The All India Experience : A Horror for most (12/01/03)

For the best part of three and a hours, I sat at my desk wondering about my future. The questions seemed like big tight slaps, landing one after the other! Yes, I had the most torrid time at the hall for this All India Entrance. I went there very underprepared. But even for those who went prepared, the exam was gruelling experience. Most of our friends were disappointed at the turn of events and really want to take a break from it all.

Amongst the guys I met at Model School only Sundar Singh had managed to attempt 300 questions. Ajit came in second in attempts by doing 290 questions. He was the only one who looked unshook after the exam. Abhishek answered 271 and KKM about 200 odd. Most of the others including Althaf, Chakku, Anooop S. (both), Thakazhi, Vinod Varghese, Socru, Shaan, John, Deepak, Jeevesh, Aneesh M. R., Azhakesan were in the 200 odds and I could just scrape in with a measly 120 odd. Most tried some guesswork. Including that, almost everyone will have a healthy negative sore in this exam. Even people like Soumya Ramanan, who had started preparing about a year and a half back, had a rotten exam. The rest of the girls didn't do any better. Joan, Rekha, Deepa, Krishnapriya, Mary, Mini, Dhanya, Manjusha, Reema, Ancy, Maya etc... the story was the same. I guess we all should take a big break from preps as of now, for at least a week, and hit back at the books after that. We are gonna do just that... starting the cricket season from tomorrow at the College Ground!

The inference from this All India is just that there is no point in going through the past year's question papers or even Kottayam Class notes. The people who fared better knew the basics better and had depended more on solid text books rather than just MCQs. I hope this is a good learning lesson for all of us. Let's hope that we all prepare well for the exams coming later in the year. The only plus point after the exam is the fact that question paper booklets were handed off to us. At least, we wouldn't have to spend time figuring out what the questions were!!!

AIIMS Entrance Exam on the 18th of May this year: (15/01/03)

I had posted earlier on this page that the AIIMS Exam was scheduled to be conducted on the 1st of June this year. But I had mistakenly taken the date of the Pre Medical Test. Sorry for the error. I did some searching on the AIIMS site to find the PG entrnace date, but in vain. Some of the Entrance Oriented sites like EntranceEmployees.com have posted the date as 18th of May. Thanks to Sundar for pointing out the error.

All India - Remember to do this before the exam: (09/01/03)

Thanks to Siby and Sundar for reminding us all through the e-group about some things that need to be done for the exam. Firstly, you have to get a photo attested by a gazetted officer which is to be produced at the examination hall. Secondly, only ball pens are allowed for making. So get yourself a pair of good quality ball bens (blue or black will do) for the exam. Thirdly (this is really strange), since ball pens are used, there shall be no possibility of correction of the answers once you have marked them. That basically means that you have to be really careful before attempting to answer. I hope we all have a good exam. Cheers and all the best guys!
