Men's Hostel Complex
This
is actually not in the campus. It's located in the
road leading upto Kumarapuram about 300 meters from
the Medical College Junction. It comes after the Police
station and the Deprtment of Physical Medicine. The
complex consists of three buldings; MH1, 2 and 3.
MH1 is the first one when you go from the Medical
College. MH1 and and MH2 have double and triple rooms.
MH3, which is the most recently constructed of the
lot has even single rooms. The Warden also stays in
a separate apartment just outside MH3.
The
facilities are meagre in all the three hostels. There
are TV rooms and reading rooms in all of the hostel
buildings. There is even a indoor court inside the
MH1. The bathroom facilities are not very good. And
you will only get a table and cot when you move into
a room. If your room is only adequately populated,
you may get one of the cupboards built in to the wall.
The mess is located in the MH2 building. The food
is better than what's on offer at the Canteen. The
menus are more extensive during the first two weeks
of a month. If you don't like the food there there
are a lot of restaurants on other side of the road
in the front.
There
is a gymnasium by the side of MH1. There is trainer
who is maintained for helping us get accustomed to
the routines. There is a basketball cart and a ground
as well for sports and games. There is a garden in
the front which is not maintained. There are some
concrete benches spread out in the garden. It's fun
to sit there and spend time evenings with friends
and close pals. There are good bakeries, provision
stores and internet cafes just across the road from
the hostel. The most prominet ones are "Jayaram
Bakers", "Raghunath Stores" and "Sam's
Point".
Ladies Hostel Complex
This
is located between the College Cricket Ground and
The S. A. T. Hospital Complex. Like the Men's Hostel,
the facilities are meagre. I really haven't been much
into this place. So, I know very little about it.
I'll update it whenever I get the information from
my batchmates.
Men's House Surgeon's Quarters
This
is located by the side of the Mortuary and is very
close the MCH Hospital 16, 17 wards. There are two
main buildings in here. MHSQ 1 and MHSQ 2. Both are
smaller than the hostels. The rooms are single and
double. The HSQ warden also lives here. The food is
provided by the mess located there. This mess actually
supplies snacks and refreshement for the Hospital
Complex during the day. It also supplies food for
the LHSQ. The HSQ is also a refuge for the PGs and
all house surgeons as it is located very close to
the main Hospital. Lot of house surgeons (who are
days scholars) have their lunch at the HSQ because
of it's proximity. There is a TV in the dining room.
Ladies' House Surgeon's Quarters
This
is located inside the hospital by the side of the
Ward 22. Because of this, lady HSes really get no
privacy from the daily routines of the hospital. They
cannot even talk aloud. The main advantage of this
location is when there are calls from the patients
in the ward. You can rush to the wards immediatel
even if you are taking a nap. The food comes from
the MHSQ.
The Men's PG Quarters
Located
by the side of the library near the main building,
this is actually a much cherished hostel. The facilities
are better than at the other undergraduate hostels.
The location is also good. It's away from the main
road and the hospital complex. That makes it a good
place to concentrate while studying. I've not been
to this place too much, so I bid for more time to
get this updated.
