Sheenu at Stanley Medical College : (09/04/03)

These are excerpts from the mail that Sheenu sent to our e-group about her experiences at Stanley.

"Stanley is a good old college. The government has not shown much interest in developing it like the Madras Medical College. Cases are really good and fit the text book description. As here people are very poor, workup cannot be done much. Academics are ok. We are planning 2 compensate it by attending more CMEs and classes in other institutions. We met a few teachers here - like our Mathew Thomas sir and Krishnadas sir, real giants in medicine. One is Dr. K. V. T.- Dr. K. V. Thiruvenkitachalam . He is 70 plus. But the enthusiasm with which he takes classes - WOW! I have got 2 batchmates - Gireesh and Jayameena, both from calicut. They are good friends. We are enjoying each others company a lot."

Update on Deepa S., Jango, Bigesh : (09/04/03)

Deepa is currently preparing for the Entrance Exams. She is doing occasional GP at Saint Annie's hospital near her home. She is going for the two wheeler license test this week. Vinod Jango, in all probability, would get his General Medicine seat somewhere in Kerala (probably at Alappuzha) as one of the candidates who opted Medicine earlier is going for an M. D. Radiodiagnosis seat at Calicut. Jango who has as seat at Kanpur in General Medicine might benefit from this if the vacancy is alloted in quick time. He has not paid fees or submitted the certificates at Kanpur and that will certainly save some trouble. Bigesh is working in S2 under Dr. Raghu as the sole representative of our batch in the Surgical Wards at MCH, Trivandrum.

Lodges near Medical College getting a lot of profit : (09/04/03)

As you might know, a lot of our batchmates are seeking refuge at lodges near the Medical College to prepare for the entrance. The latest addition to this 'ritual' is none other than Anish M. R. He has taken a room in one of the more respectable lodges and is expected to be given company by Siby! I really wish both of them the very best in their efforts! This trend which was started by a few seniors has really caught up. The first amongst our batch to try it out were KKP and Vijay Ranga. Since then Sreejith, Sudin, Arun Mohan, Chakku etc. have been perfecting the art, putting in a lot of hard work at the lodges.
