KKM
in depression : (31/01/03)
We
have noticed a distinct change in KKM for the past
few days. He's not going out of his home even to play
badminton. He's responding to phone calls lethargically
and is always sleeping even during mornings. The only
thing that can possibly get him out of this spell
is a good result at the All India Entrance. At least
that's things look now.
John
and Azhakesan get Lotto sneakers : (31/01/03)
Both
of these guys are sporting their brand new sneakers
purchased from the Air Force Canteen in Aakkulam.
Latest
Virus scare : (29/01/03)
A
new virus reminiscent of the "CODE RED"
virus has been clogging internet pathways for the
past two days. The virus which targets the gaping
holes in the software on Microsoft's SQL servers has
hit many servers all around the globe. The anti virus
companies are on the run to update their virus definitions
to protect their clients from this worm.
The
TRAI hike : (27/01/03)
The
latest twist in the telecom industry features tariff
revisions (hikes) for all land phones to be effective
from the 1st of April 2003. The all round increase
in rates means that land phone usage will become very
expensive. Coupled with this, all incoming calls to
mobile phones (both CDMA and GSM) are going to be
free. In the near future, owning mobile phones will
beomce the cheapest way to keep in touch!
Althaf

Althaf
has bought a second hand Fiat Uno recently. The car
was bought from his uncle who is an old hand when
it comes to car resaling. He's getting used to the
new car by going for rides in the early mornings.
Althaf is still orking part time in Al - Arif Hospital.

Mobile to Mobile Incoming free : (22/01/03)
Almost
all the of the Major Operators excepting Reliance
have informed in a joint press statement that mobile
to mobile incoming calls from any operator will be
free. This change has already been implemented in
some parts of the country. Full implementation might
take some more days. Coinciding with this, some operators
like Bharti, BPL etc have hiked their monthly subscription
charges.
Reliance : Planning to make it big
(21/01/03)
I
got this from a reliable friend who's working for
the company at Trivandrum. Reliance is already laying
a fibre optic cable network through out the city.
The work is progressing fast and is being simultaneously
done in other cities all over India. The Reliance
Infocom CDMA mobile services will be launched in late
February. Not only that, the company will come up
with a high speed internet access system to most parts
of the city by the end of the year. Did you know that
this extensive fibre optic system is the first one
of it's kind in the world?
A
New
Fashion Statement? (19/01/03)
Three
days before, it was John who had an excuse for not
playing properly during a cricket match at the College
Ground. "I'm fasting man!" he said. Why?
"I just want to check my lipid profile. I have
been sitting at home doing no exercise for the past
few months. Just being careful." Well, it didn't
just end there. Two days on, there was another eligible
batchelor. None other than Deepak Chandran. Turning
up exactly the same way at the ground in a fasting
state. Well, I wonder what's up with these guys? Anyway,
they are getting it done FREE of cost at the Biochem
Lab at MCH.
The
GIM meet (18/01/03)
The
whole state is in a frenzy. The Global Investors Meet
is being held at Cochin, our state's financial capital.
The big shots attending the meeting include our P.
M. Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Finance Minister Yashwant
Sinha. By the looks of it, lot of goodies are coming
our way. Those include multiplex theatres which is
the latest craze to hit the metros, at three cities
in Kerala.
Paul
has a new car! (17/01/03)
Yeah!
Paul and his family have invested in the good old
Maruti 800 AC. I'm yet to see it. Paul should be seen
zipping around the city in his new four wheeler in
a few weeks!
Aneesh

drop your jaw when you hear the topic - Brachial Plexus!!!

as a tutor! Way to go Aneesh! (Courtesy

ESPN
Star Blackout :
(13/01/03)
Sport
fans in Kerala are going through a nightmare these
days. The Cable TV operators through out the state
have taken out both ESPN and Star Sports from their
services to reciprocate against stiff rises on the
rates that these channels are asking. The standoff
between the two parties extended into the third day
today. Both the sides are claiming that they are reasonable.
The discussions between the officials which might
start soon at the Capital might provide a solution
to this. Let's hope it does!!!
Cloning Claims : Details to be revealed
(13/01/03)
A
court in Florida has ordered the company Clonaid to
come up with the details of it's claim for making
cloned babies. The company which claimed that Eve
who was born on Boxing Day last year, was the first
cloned child ever produced. Science activists who
were looking forward to the results of the tests which
would prove or disprove such claims were disappointed
when the company claimed it's inability to get the
consent from the parents of the child. The parents
fear judicial action against them which will deprive
them of the baby. The subpoena was approved this Saturday
by the court and the hearing for which the Company's
Vice - Presdient Mr. Thomas Kaenzig is to apepar,
will take place on the 22nd of January.

(13/01/03)

surely isn't true! But then this is what gossip churns
out. It seems Murali has told someone that he's gotten
engaged recently. He was explaining about why he's
sporting a new ring.
Boy
develops new language :
(02/01/03)
I
just read about it in Yahoo! It seems a boy named
Girish from Trivandrum has developed a new language
which bridges the gap between Malayalam and Tamil.
This language called Kaathi was developed by the boy
himself in about 6 months. Girish is still in high
school and the teachers think that he's a genius of
some sort. Read
