Muffy is getting married to Yakuta on Friday, the 11th of April at the Pine Ridge Citizen Center, Columbia, South Carolina, U. S. A. The time is scheduled to be at 6: 52 PM. The Reception is going to be held at Lynlee Hall, Columbia, South Carolina, U. S. A. from 5 PM onwards on the 13th of April. Archana going to Columbia for mastering Bioinformatics : (25/03/03)

Archana has taken up an offer from the University of Columbia for Masters degree in Biomedical Informatics. Although without financial aid, she's going ahead because of the fact that the reputed university and the department which is headed by a pioneer in the field. The course is expected to start in September before which she has to get all the paperwork done. Archana is still in Kochi trying to finish the USMLE course. AIPGE Counselling update - Lekshmi M. : (25/03/03)

The three Medicine PGs Krishna Kumar M., Deepthi S., and Ajith Mohan have joined for duty at MCH, Trivandrum on the 17th of March. Deepthi and KKM share I. C. C. U. duties with Day and Night duties respectively. Ajith is on Day M. I. C. U. duty. The work at the ICCU is very hectic in KK's opinion with a lot of Thrombolyses and sleepless nights. The PGs who got into the Medicine Department via All Inida PGE have to join by the 20th of March. The other have to join within fivteen days of their interiview or before April 6th, whichever comes first. The last date for joining the course via Kerala Counselling is on the 24th of March. I would also like to make a correction. I had mentioned in an earlier news item that Priyesh might have taken a Surgery seat in Kerala. As it turns out, he only managed an M. S. Everything about this Version 2.0 Professor (with a bit of a stiff upper lip) is English. He's enjoying his home and his friends at present. He'll head back to England on the 26th of March. If you remember, he has to join at his new job on the 1st of April.

Yesterday was the day of reckoning for four of our friends. Maya Prasad has opted for D. C. H. at S. A. T., Thiruvananthapuram. Maya would ideally have loved an M. D. Paediatrics seat. She is planning to write the coming entrance exams along with her PG course. Shifas Babu took (via a representative) an M. S. Ophthalmology seat in Kerala. I'm not sure where exactly he has joined. He too would love to get an M. D. Paediatrics in the upcoming entrances. Priyesh has secured an M. S. General Surgery seat (in Kerala I guess) and Reema has a M. D. OBGYN seat in M. P. Both the 'B's ie. Manju B. and Deepthi B. have ended up in the same department. They both have taken M. D. (or is it M. S.?) Gynecology at Trivandrum. Ruchika Agarwal has taken M. D. General Medicine in B. J. M. C. Ahmedabad. Lastly, to his and our wholesome relief, Abhishek has taken M. D. General Medicine in Burla Medical College, Orissa. He is not without any company there. According to latest news, Dr. Shanavas Khan (from the '95 Batch) and another Malayalee is giving him company. It was a really anxious day as Abhi just scraped through with a Medicine Seat. She took the last available seat as Vinod Chandran was left with nothing but Waiting List (but that is number 1) on both Medicine and Paediatrics. Bigesh and Nasim Siyad both took M. S. General Surgery at Trivandrum. Aby Madan took M. S. General Surgery at Kottayam. Priyesh took D. Ortho at Trivandrum but he's first on the waiting list for Surgery. A prayer will be held at Prasanth Lal's home on the 8th of March (Saturday) at 3 pm. Abhilash P. is coming back to Thiruvananthapuram on the 9th of March. Sad news : Prasanth Lal passes away (02/03/03)

I'm extremely sorry to inform you that Dr. Prasanth Lal passed away today morning. He was found dead in his room at his home. Yesterday night, as usual, he went to his room and locked himself in. He was found 'sleeping' on the floor by his brother (who checked what he was doing through a window) late last night. But he thought it was a routine of his Yoga. Today morning, he was not responding to calls. His brother broke in through the door and found him dead. He was taken to the Medical College Casualty where Manjoj S. (Kochappi) was on duty. The Cause of Death is due to Cardiac Arrythmias. The functions start at 3 pm. on Sunday at his place. Pass this news along friends, let's join our hands in support to his family.
